Syfy
Syfy is a dashboard app for a sci-fi channel's viewers. Since sci-fi is an extremely wide genre, the design needed to appeal to a wide range of users. Before I started designing I did a vast visual research and took inspiration from many different references. I used a dark background and made use of a limited color palette and subtle gradients. The main graphic feature is the use of the 3D effect, which appears throughout the site.
Icon design
Inspired by a series of posters made by "Magpie Studio", I've created these impossibly shaped icons, which set the tone for the site's entire visual identity. The Escher-like shapes that surround themselves endlessly connected in my mind to the sci-fi content world. I tried to use this style to give a mysterious, paradoxal vibe, while maintaining the simplicity of an icon.
Logo re-design
An update to the existing SyFy channel logo was essential in keeping the look and feel of the site cohesive. The round typography was squared and the logo was given the 3D treatment it was longing for. The menu hamburger was not left behind...
